Dr Jane Cullen works in FELS in International Development and Teacher Education (IDTE) and on modules in the Masters in Education qualification, including chairing the module Education and Development (ET821) 2010-2015, and currently the module ‘Leading Professional Practice in Education’ (E855). She finished a 3 year appointment as Director of the Teacher Education in sub-Saharan Africa programme (www.tessafrica.net) in late 2014. Shas been with The Open University since 2006 and prior to this she worked as a researcher at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge, and the Von Hügel Institute, St Edmund’s College, Cambridge. Her research interest is in the relationship between education and poverty and she has worked on UK-based research projects with schools in poor neighbourhoods, on widening participation in Higher Education, as well as on education in low-income countries. Prior to moving into Higher Education in the UK fifteen ago, she lived, worked and travelled extensively in Asia, South America and Africa.
